Corporate and private offices join face-to-face activities in Mexico City

On April 23, 2021, at a press conference, the Mayor of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, announced that the city will continue to be considered in the orange color of the epidemiological traffic light during the week that goes from April 26 to May 2, to start a transition to the yellow light.

In such virtue, the head of the entity pointed out that, as of Monday, April 26, corporate and private offices will be able to resume work in person with a maximum permitted capacity of 20%.

Likewise, the Head of Government emphasized that these activities must take the following measures to avoid contagions in the work centers:

  • Permanent use of masks;
  • Use of a sanitary filter;
  • Maintain the separation of people in different spaces and physical divisions such as partitions;
  • Controlled entry of people outside the building;
  • Continuous maintenance of air conditioning systems, filters and 40% of air circulation must come from outside;
  • Use of QR systems for contagion identification; and
  • Weekly application of tests.

Likewise, it was set forth that when meetings are scheduled with people from outside the relevant company or corporation, no food or beverages may be offered, and no objects that cannot be easily cleaned, such as newspapers, flyers or magazines, may be handed out. Likewise, masks must be worn throughout the meeting, a healthy distance of 1.5 meters must be maintained at all times and no more than 6 (six) people may be present.

Finally, the Head of Government pointed out that, together with the private sector, a permanent program will be implemented so that at least 20% of the work can be done from home, due to the environmental and mobility benefits that this represents, which will reduce more than 12 million trips in private cars and more than 43 million in public transportation.

The Mexico City Mayor justified the implementation of these measures in the reduction of contagions in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico, as well as the advances in the vaccination campaign against COVID-19.
