Marielena Scott

Professional profile

Marielena Scott focuses her practice on labor and employment law, with an emphasis on collective labor law, union relations, collective bargaining and labor compliance.

She has experience advising and representing unions, including her work with the Confederation of Mexican Workers (CTM), where she has been involved in the negotiation of long-standing collective bargaining agreements exceeding 40 years in force, with national and international companies, as well as in the strategic management of labor relations.

Experience

She has actively participated in the implementation of the 2019 labor reform within union structures, advising on the transition to the new labor justice system and union democracy framework. As part of this work, she has developed and delivered training programs and designed strategies and guidelines to align union practices with the new regulatory framework.

Her practice includes the design and implementation of negotiation strategies, labor compliance audits and representation before labor authorities. She has also been involved in complex negotiations with multiple union stakeholders and in disputes arising from representation issues and internal conflicts.

Prior to her current practice, she worked in the labor area at a international law firm, where she was involved in matters related to comparative law and collective labor relations. She also has experience in civil, commercial and criminal law, as well as pro bono work providing legal assistance to vulnerable individuals through organizations such as Bufetec and the Criminal Law Clinic.
