CDMX epidemiological color-coding system turns green
At a press conference on June 4, Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that, as of June 7, 2021, Mexico City epidemiological traffic light will turn green. She said that the decision is based on a sustained reduction in infections and deaths due to COVID-19 in recent weeks.
Likewise, the Head of Government indicated that the change of the CDMX to green light does not mean that the restrictions imposed at the beginning of the pandemic will no longer be in force, it simply implies the resumption of different activities, or the adjustment of capacity and schedules for activities that were already allowed to be open.
In this regard, the new measures for Mexico City are as follows:
- As of June 7, 2021:
- On-site classes (schools, workshops, cultural centers) will resume activities;
- Hotels will have 60% of permitted capacity;
- Department stores, shopping centers and businesses with 50% of permitted capacity;
- Restaurants may provide service until 00:00 hrs. indoors; and
- Activities inside halls are allowed.
- As of June 14, 2021:
- Outdoor sporting events with 50% of permitted capacity;
- Group classes are permitted in gyms; and
- Indoor activities are allowed in convention and congress centers.
- As of June 24, 2021:
- Indoor entertainment events of more than 1,500 people are allowed with a permitted capacity of 25%; and
- Cinemas and theaters may have a capacity of 50%.
- Nightclubs, bars and social events will continue to be closed.
In addition to the aforementioned, the Head of Government pointed out that all activities must comply with the following measures: (i) Mandatory use of masks; (ii) Use of the QR code to enter the establishment; (iii) Sanitary filter at the entrance of the establishment; and (iv) Maintain a healthy distance.
Finally, it is important to point out that there are activities that by virtue of their nature have specific measures, so if you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely,
