CDMX, corporate and private offices will return to activities on green color coding system
On September 25, the Mexico City Government published in the Official Gazette the “Twentieth-second notice announcing the color coding system for Mexico City and the modification of the Guidelines for the Implementation of the Gradual Plan towards a New Normality in Mexico City”. In said notice, the local government determined that, during the period between September 28 and October 4, the color of the coding system will remain orange.
The color determination of the coding system by the Government of Mexico City is mainly due to two factors: (i) The indicators of the health authorities at the federal and local levels; and (ii) the epidemiological data the government of this entity has regarding the hospital occupation of suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Mexico City.
It is important to mention that the epidemiological coding system in Mexico City has remained orange since June 26, when the Monitoring Committee (Comité de Monitoreo) reported that due to the decrease in positive cases of COVID-19, it was feasible to move towards that color.
On the other hand, the relevant notice sets forth various modifications to the Guidelines for the Implementation of the Gradual Plan towards a New Normality in Mexico City, which were published in the Official Gazette of this entity on May 29, and which sets forth under which color of the coding system the different economic, social, labor, educational, cultural, governmental and transportation activities carried out in the city would return to a face-to-face mode.
These guidelines set forth that the return of Mexico City employees would take place on August 10th, while the return of corporate and private offices to the face-to-face mode would take place when the coding system is yellow.
The September 25 notice modified the aforementioned, so that government activities, as well as corporate and private offices will return to the face-to-face mode until the epidemiological coding system is green, so they will have to continue under the distance working mode until then.
It is necessary to point out that this notice will not apply, in the case of employees of the Government of Mexico City, for those activities directly related to the operation of the government in matters of collection and social programs, and in the case of corporate and private offices, for those activities related to essential activities, whose presence is indispensable for the operation of the activity that according to the color of the coding system is operating and for activities that have already been authorized to be reactivated.
