Carlo Cannizzo focuses his legal practice in real estate, infrastructure and construction, corporate, finance and transactional M&A areas. He has more than 23 years of experience and has participated as lead legal counsel and advisor for Mexico in many strategic operations, including the structuring, acquisition and sale of several real estate projects with mixed uses, the negotiation of transportation and construction agreements for the oil and gas sectors, and structured financing transactions. Furthermore, he has acted as main counsel for international banks, real estate funds, hotel chains, industrial companies, high technology companies, and fashion companies, among others. He is member of the board of directors of several Mexican companies, some of which are listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange.

Experience

  • Acquisition by a United States Real Estate Fund of six all-inclusive resorts located on the Caribbean and Pacific coasts of Mexico for a value of over USD $600 million dollars.
  • The acquisition of Bosque Real, which is one of the largest luxury housing developments and golf course in Mexico City.
  • The sale of Malecon Americas, one of the largest commercial, residential and hotel developments in Cancun.
  • The acquisition of Puerto Cancun, the largest tourist development in Cancun.
  • The acquisition of more than 15 hotel properties in Mexico by a US fund in the last 5 years.
  • More than 10 Pipeline transport and construction projects for the oil and gas industry in Mexico, totaling more than 2500 kms.
  • Advise and representation of financial institutions such as Credit Suisse, BNP Paribas in their hospitality investments in Mexico.
  • Opening of more than 100 business entities in the manufacture, logistics, consumer goods, pharma, IT, hospitality, among others

Affiliations

Carlo Cannizzo is member of various associations, among others, the American Bar Association “International Section” and “Real Estate Section” and the International Bar Association. Carlo is currently Vice Chair of the Real Estate Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of International Law, IR Global advisor for Construction Law and Real Estate.
